After several years in Woodstock, the club moved the National Specialty to Brampton, Ontario, in 2003. For members who had grown used to the old venue, it was a change of scene, and a chance to see how the show would work in a busier, more urban part of the province.
The move to Brampton
Brampton sits just west of Toronto, and in 2003 it was already a fast growing city. For the club, the move meant a different kind of weekend: easier for some members to reach, harder for others, and a new hall to get used to. The show went ahead, and the entry held up well.
What the ring showed
By 2003 the breed in Canada had a decade of club history behind it. Breeders were working with lines that had been developed here, and the dogs in the ring reflected that. The Specialty was less about novelty by then and more about consistency: good coats, sound movement, steady temperaments.
Results
The 2003 results are not yet in the archive. We are looking for the catalogue and any photographs from the show so the winners can be listed properly. If you have them, or you remember the day, please write to us, call us, or come and visit us at a club event.
In 2026 the club is still filling in the specialty archive. Brampton 2003 is one of the years we would like to complete next, and any help from members is welcome.
